Disclaimer: I have NOT actually watched this movie.  I WILL go back at some point and give it a chance to redeem itself.

I tried to watch this twice, the first time I got about half hour in, the second time maybe about 45 minutes in.  I’ve done war movies before, so I don’t have a problem with that, and I’m not sure what it actually was that made me bail, but I was not having it.  I’ll have to try again sometime when I’m in a better state of mind.

I DO want to see the end though, cause there’s got to be some redeeming qualities if it got nominated and all that.  PLUS, I didn’t even get to see Willem Dafoe.  Foe shame.

I know fans and especially old-day larries are sick of him and his tweet was the last straw but what if his larry denial wasn’t meant to be denial more like him telling fans to stop making everything he does as a larry sign and make theories about literally anything? It isn’t that long when tumblr larries were calling out twitter larries for this, for spreading literally every rumour and making theories of it because those twarries literally take everything as a larry sign - ‘Oh, Louis was staring at one vip box yesterday, there must’ve been Harry!’

‘There was some mysterious shadow in one of the vip boxes watching the show, that must’ve been Harry.’

‘Louis is talking to someone in the van, it must’ve been Harry.’

‘Lottie posted video from zoo and this voice sounds just like Harry so it’s definitely him behind the camera!’

Back in the day some larries called out Gemma when she named larries mental after some of them were constatly harrasing her in comment section in literally every post with “💚💙” and expecting her to out them. I don’t want to excuse him for how he behave and it’s right to call him out especially when it comes to being rude to fans or dragging that kid lately and pretending to be the father of the year but as long as I’ve seen him being in a great mood lately, chilled so he forgot to control his laddy lad image and his natural flamboyant mannerism came through, his smirk when singing “You still like to wear my jumper” after Umbro 2.0 or playing 7, what if he didn’t actually deny larry more like to tell fans in very unfortunate way to chill because not everything is a sign. In a normal world he would come online the next day and apologize or aknowledge his mistakes or just explain how he meant that tweet but this isn’t normal world, he’s closeted and can’t say/do much just like Harry.

The only thing that makes me sad that while some larries unstan him, his tweet also made them doubt if they are still together.

The thing is, Harry and Louis are closeted and together. They don't want to be closeted and they hate to stunt or to pretend they are someone they're not. So over the years they've given us signs here and there for us to pick up on to show that they are gay and together. It can be messaging through t-shirts or it can be the choice of closing songs at shows. Sometimes it's very subtle. So that has created a fandom that looks for signs in everything and can dig up information and connect dots like the FBI. Harry and Louis created that environment. They've even encouraged it with RBB and with Eroda and the FITF puzzles. They know we love that shit and we're good at it, because they've trained us well. Sometimes this fandom is going to see things that aren’t there. That's just how it is.

Us larries have been bullied and gaslighted and been made to look like lunatics for believing larry is real. We are ridiculed and told we are less than other fans. Some larries are also queer. Because of how we are treated we have an extra need to express ourself and be proud of who we are. We refuse to be silenced. We know we are right.

So if Louis or Harry are annoyed at us looking for signs everywhere and creating theories they can honestly fuck off. They created that environment and they now have to deal with it. I don't think they care if we think L looked at H at a concert when he wasn't there. So i don't think parmageddon is connected to that. If Gemma is annoyed at people commenting blue and green hearts on her ig posts she can fuck off too. It's our way of expressing ourselves as an oppressed group of fandom. It's our way to show our love and say 'we know what's real and what's not'. She is benefiting and riding the coat-tails of her brother's fame, so she can deal with a couple of blue and green hearts.

Don't let any of this stop you from being a proud larrie, theorising and expressing yourself!

honestly fucking fascinating that people will continue to spread the insidious, uncompassionate notions that a person's food intake and activity level habits have no impact on their body size or health. Or that body size doesn't impact health. Saying this as someone's who's been both morbidly obese due to Binge Eating Disorder AND underweight due to anorexia, i.e. two sides of the same coin.

Okay, so unpopular opinion (maybe), but Alex defo knows how in love marc is with Vale, and honestly, he just wants his brother to be happy.

He also is much smarter than Marc when it comes to Valentino and feelings, so he certainly knows that Vale talks too much about marc to not still be utterly obsessed. Alex thinks there's still something, maybe not love, but definitely not nothing, and although Vale hates marc, it's not true hate. So if Valentino could just sort his shit out for half a second maybe they could be happy? Also he's definitely conferring with Luca. Hence, giving Valentino the chance to sort his shit.

BUT it's defo not gonna be easy. Marc has a whole bunch of overprotective idiots around him now, and they won't let Vale get away with half ass apologies.

Also, yes, Pecco will not be talking to Vale. He's unofficially adopted Marc as his brother and Valentino is being an absolute dumbass and frankly, he isn't paid enough for this. Luca, though, feels like he has to intervene a bit.

Valentino is king of repressing his feelings until he's having a crisis because there's too many to keep a lid on it now. That's actually canon I swear. My man needs THERAPY!!! Thank you though, I'm so glad you liked it!!

Protective Jorge ftw. Extra fun cause irl I don't think him and marc have much of a relationship, but in rpf, it's like Dani loves marc, and Jorge loves dani. And really, marc was such a baby (just young) when they all met him, so extra protectiveness.

How I feel about this character

I have a huge soft spot for Luna and I really like her friendship with Harry.

All the people I ship romantically with this character

I don't really have any ships for her. I know Luna/Ginny is super popular but personally it doesn't resonate with me and I much prefer Ginny paired with other people. Given that Luna is one of the few people Harry feels comfortable sharing his feelings with a ship between them could be interesting postwar during the period of canon when Luna (according to the supplementary material) started to question some of her father's most outlandish beliefs. Moments like her knowing him well enough to recognize him when he has taken polyjuice could be super sweet in a romantic context too. But honestly I like them more as friends.

My non-romantic OTP for this character

LUNA AND HARRY FRIENDSHIP FTW!!! I love them so much. I love how Luna is one of the only people Harry opens up to - how she's able to comfort him post book 5 and how at the end of book 7 he chooses to sit next to her and she immediately understands how he feels and creates a distraction. I also love that she knows him so well she is able to recognize him even when he is using polyjuice potion in book 7. Iconic. I love the bond they share over the losses they experienced early in life and the experience of having been seen as outsiders. And I love how Luna's temperament and affect balance out Harry's.

I really enjoyed them going to Slughorn's party as friends too and Harry being so entertained by Luna unintentionally trolling everyone. Give me a postwar AU where everyone's after 'The Boy Who Lived Twice' and Harry's sick of it so he takes Luna as his date to everything - just as friends despite what the tabloids say. They undoubtedly run into Draco eventually and Luna probably just blurts out what all their respective close friends were thinking about them seeming to kind of have a thing for each other. Ron & Hermione are horrified but also desperately want to know the answer (and are afraid to know).

My unpopular opinion about this character

I'm not a huge fan of Draco and Luna just instantly being besties in the postwar period without any reference to any of the events in book 7. I mean, I do think Luna would be more likely to forgive him than some people and he was probably the nicest of her captors. But he still did participate - however miserably and unwillingly - in holding her and others captive. So it's not that I don't think they could be friends, just that it's weird when what happened gets forgotten.

Draco at least would probably feel really guilty about it and not just instantly be chatting with her and acting like nothing happened. And it would be understandable if she had trauma from that too. Though I would see her as being pretty sanguine about it and having some very Luna things to say that Draco probably doesn't know what to do with.

During 8th year someone's probably all 'you two know each other?!' and Luna's probably all 'oh yes. I lived in his cellar for several months during the war. He was definitely my favorite Death Eater. He used to sneak us extra food and water sometimes which was very nice of him. Though of course letting us all go would have been a lot nicer' and Draco's probably just standing there not sure if he's being insulted or not while Harry tries not to lose it in the background.

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon.

We hear in the supplemental material that she eventually started to question some of her dad's beliefs. It would have been interesting if we saw a bit of that in canon. Also I'm curious what her reaction was when she found out her father tried to betray that Golden Trio to Death Eaters. I think this would be super interesting especially since, in a very different way, it would echo Draco's arc of coming to question some of the things he was taught by his parents. Could be something interesting to explore in a sideplot to a drarry fic or as a main plot to a short fic.

favorite thing about them: I reaaaaalllly love his whole beeping thing idk. IDK !!! Maybe it's a neurodivergence thing but I really connect with characters who are depicted in communicating in ways outside the norm. Also there's something very funny to me abt how he beeps absolute gibberish but people understand him anyways. Like just as a comedic bit, not reading it any deeper, that shit's gold to me.

least favorite thing about them: Ok this is a take from my artist brain but fuuuuuuuck his hat fr that shit is way harder to make look right than you'd think. That or I just have a weird perfectionism issue. Which is also a likely contender.

unpopular opinion: What evennnnnnnn are the popular opinions in this fandom I barely go to wider fandom here. Unpopular opinion I wish more people depicted his beeping ??? Maybe ?? But that's a tentative one since I know for more serious works it's kinda. Hard to run with that. In my writing I have my workaround of "all his dialogue is in quotes cuz he's beeping so what's written is actually a translation" but liiike I still haven't figured out a pleasing way to do it in art. Like the best I got is speech bubble with beeps and translation underneath but it feels like. A Lot. So like, all of that to say I wish the beeps were worked with more but I can see where people come from just writing plain English for him. And maybe it is worked with more in wider fandom idk.

Of course, Billy Hargrove was to be expected :D

How I feel about this character: I have strong and complicated feelings about this character. He's a bad boy, the kind of guy I would have absolutely hated in high school but also the kinda guy who would not be boring at least. :D He's loud and obnoxious and parties like an animal, but his taste in music is impeccable (I love rock and metal and music from the 80's and I will not take criticism for that). He's got pretty eyes (that curly mullet is... well, let's say, H&M did it better <3), a nice body and a great fashion sense (denim-on-denim and leather jackets ftw) and he drives a Chevrolet Camaro from '79 like a madman. He can also be pretty funny when he wants to be, ridiculous even. So, what's not to like really? :P

All the people I ship romantically with this character: I mostly ship him with Steve, Eddie and Argyle (the last two are totally crack and fanon but who gives). I think Billy and Heather could've been hot, more than friends, maybe even friends-with-benefits if not an actual couple. Just sayin'. I've seen some great headcanons, maybe even fanart of Billy and Chrissy and I think, you know, the princess and metalhead setting could've worked with them, too.

As for my most 'problematic' Billy ship, I actually really like Billy and Hopper. There's this whole daddy kink thing involved I suppose. Lowkey my favorite crackship Ted and Billy as well. :P I'm also very supportive of Billy and El in general, I think the actors had great chemistry in s3 and I can see why some ship them, so I suppose I lowkey ship them (in spirit), too.

My non-romantic OTP for this character: Though I ship Billy and Heather romantically, I also love seeing them as 'gay besties', supporting each other and protecting each other. It's one of my favorite headcanons in this fandom. Same goes for Chrissy I suppose, if not romantically involved.

Though Billy had his issues with Max, maybe even than beyond just normal 'sibling-ship', I still enjoyed their relationship a lot. It's clear that they spent a lot of time together (whether they actually hated it or not), and that they deeply cared for each other.

My unpopular opinion about this character: The majority of the fandom seems to think (or at least acts like) Billy is the worst character in the show and at least used to actively bully and harass Billy fans and shippers (his actor got his fair share of that also I hear). Though Billy was definitely not the nicest character or even particularly 'goody-good' (he was a bully and quite shitty at times actually), acting like he's worse than Dr. Brenner, for example, is bullshit. We clearly did not watch the same show.

Also, for other Billy fans... He might be your baby, but he's not an actual baby. He's not really your son or child and you don't need to 'protect' him from the haters who can't separate fiction from reality (just block them) or tw/anti Karen or any other character you don't like in favor of Billy (you're no better). Billy can also be shipped with characters other than Steve (male or female, older and younger, even self-inserts) and just because you don't like it, doesn't make the ship automatically 'problematic'. It just means there are people out there who like different things than you and you need to learn to suck it up and look away. It's for the best.

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon. That Billy wouldn't have faced such gruesome death. He wasn't a good guy, but he didn't deserve to die, especially so young. I also wish we could've seen what really happened between him and Max between seasons 2 & 3 because clearly their relationship improved there. Such wasted potential.

favorite thing about them: flowey's role as a player foil/mirror! if you've followed me for a while you likely know i'm obsessed with undertale's meta elements, and flowey's execution as a character concept is a good 90% of that. he really sells the entire game. also go watch andrew cunningham's what was so good about UNDERTALE anyway and Experience Autism. oh and jacob geller's Time Loop Nihilism for more flowey reset adjacent topics that make me lose my goddamn mind.

least favorite thing about them: iii don't think there is? like i said, he's a fantastically executed character. maybe i wish he was a bit more visibly involved during the story? just because he's fun to see onscreen. but that would take away from him as a narratively defiant character, and it's also really fun to speculate on his time in the underground from what little information he lets through. so uhhh nothing he's perfect and i love him so much BECAUSE of the atrocities <3 love and light

favorite line: I'm emotionally mentally and physically incapacitated every time I think about "Not in a world without love. Not in a world without you."

i know you said fantasy high/dead boy detectives but unfortunately most of my fandom takes have to do with comics so here we go.

the character everyone gets wrong.

kristen for sure. a lot of people paint her as this silly, irresponsible person who doesn't care about the consequences of her actions, but that's so derivative. she was raised in a restrictive, bigoted cult and it informs how she acts!! she's a teenager learning how to make her own choices after spending her entire life in an environment where thinking for yourself was actively discouraged, if not outright punished, so of course she's going to be messy.

3. worst fandom take i've seen.

hoo boy.... when you're a comics fan you've seen some abysmal takes. gotta be the takes surrounding how bruce is a coward for not wanting to kill people. yes, even the joker. is he flawed? yeah, but not wanting to permanently end a life is not one of those flaws. full stop.

8. common fandom opinion that everyone is wrong about.

honestly anything to do with tim drake and to an extent all of the bat siblings. theres a reason why i stopped engaging with the batfandom on a larger scale and that's because it has a tendency to sand down any interesting character traits in order to fit them into a nuclear family-esque dynamic. i really don't see tim and jason ever being that close, and i think they don't really see each other as siblings. also, dick was tim's robin, not jason.

10. worst part of fanon.

i'm going with comics again because it's insane how many people not only don't read the source material but actively brag about it. i think if you are going to call yourself a comics fan, then you need to read comics. otherwise you're a fucking poser. also i hate the damage xfi did to shatterstar as a character. peter david turned him into a slutty bi stereotype when in x force 1991 he literally has a panic attack the first time he gets a boner and is very specific about the people he trusts. that's not someone who would be sleeping around a lot, and yet so many people buy into that version of him and write him like that in fics. demisexual shatterstar ftw.

12. unpopular character that i actually really like.

hmm, not quite unpopular so much as niche but amadeus cho. he's such an interesting character and he deserves more love. he's a fun little anarchist and he hates the avengers and is wracked by guilt over his family dying because shield decided that a thirteen year old genius was a threat to national security and bombed his house. really interesting guy.

18. absolutely criminal that the fandom has been sleeping on...

charles and his trauma. maybe it's the aro in me but sooo many people seem only focused on charles in so much as him being in love with edwin back and im like... he has character traits outside of that.
